Eric V. Hires is a native of Orlando. He graduated from Edgewater High School and from the University of Central Florida, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Business Management in 1985. Following a career in restaurant management, Mr. Hires joined Liberty Mutual Insurance Company as an all-lines claims adjuster, handling workers’ compensation, personal injury, and general liability claims. In 1991, Mr. Hires joined the firm of Ross & Dicesare, P.A., in Lakeland, Florida as a paralegal and law office administrator.
Returning to Orlando, Mr. Hires worked with the Law Office of Frank M. Eidson, and, later, Morgan & Van Dingenen, P.A. During this time he commenced his formal legal education by attending law school at night and on weekends while continuing to work as a litigation paralegal. Mr. Hires graduated number four in his class from Barry University School of Law. He became a member of the Florida Bar in September 2004.
While in law school, Mr. Hires received the award for Outstanding Oral Advocacy, the Faculty Professionalism Award, and The Leonard E. Birdsong Academic Excellence Award. In January 2005, Mr. Hires formed the law firm of Morgan & Hires, LLC, and began practicing law in the areas of personal injury, workers’ compensation, and wrongful death. After completing the certification examination in 2006, Mr. Hires received certification through the National Football League Players’ Association as an NFLPA Certified Contract Advisor, allowing him to represent athletes in contract negotiations with NFL teams.
Also in 2006, Mr. Hires became an acting member of the Advisory Board for The Barry University School of Law. Mr. Hires has been a guest lecturer on various legal topics at The Barry University School of Law, Keiser University, and The Institute for Paralegal Education. In 2010 Mr. Hires became certified as a Florida Supreme Court Civil Circuit Mediator.
After practicing for several years in Winter Park, Florida with Morgan & Hires, LLC, and later, Morgan, Hires & Boynton, LLC, Mr. Hires established The Law Firm of Eric V. Hires, LLC, in July 2008. In addition, Eric is an Adjunct Instructor for the University of Central Florida’s Department of Legal Studies, Health, and Public Affairs section, where he teaches sports law to students aspiring to learn more about the legal issues and regulations of sports.
